To ask the Taoiseach the annual amount claimed by special advisers attached to him or his Department outside of their regular salary, since 1 March 2020 to date in 2025, by mileage claim and amount, subsistence, other vouched expenses and unvouched expenses; and if the travel episode and-or journey related to same will be included in the response. The annual amounts claimed by Special Advisers employed by the Department of the Taoiseach in respect of mileage, subsistence and vouched expenses from 1 March 2020 to end February 2025 are set out in the table below.

No unvouched expenses were claimed by Special Advisers attached to the Department of the Taoiseach in the period in question.

All travel expense claims are approved in compliance with Circular 11/82, using current mileage, and domestic and foreign subsistence rates published in subsequent circulars.

Foreign travel reports for the Department of the Taoiseach, including details in respect of office holders attached to the Department of the Taoiseach and advisers and senior officials forming part of the accompanying delegations, are published on a monthly basis on the website of the Department of the Taoiseach at: www.gov.ie/en/collection/8991b0-corporate-reports/

At all times, the Department seeks to ensure that the best value for money is sought in respect of each official trip undertaken, consistent with the requirements of official business.
