The World Conference on Tobacco Control 2025 is being organised and funded by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease; my Department is not involved in either its organisation or its funding. I welcome that Ireland has been chosen as the location of the conference and look forward to the focus that it will bring to combustible tobacco smoking which remains the leading preventable cause of ill-health, disability and premature mortality here.
