Commercial movement of pets is defined where a pet, or pets, is either travelling unaccompanied, or is travelling for the use of trading, or for shows, sporting events or where an owner has more than 5 pets travelling.
The number of dogs exported commercially from Ireland in the past five years are listed in the tabular form below:
Year | Amount |
---|---|
2020 | 8,936 |
2021 | 5,971 |
2022 | 7,114 |
2023 | 9,496 |
2024 | 8,763 |
Total | 40,280 |
My Department cannot comment on whether these commercial exports were subsequently listed for sale as that is in another jurisdiction.
