To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of individual domiciliary care allowance applications or social welfare appeals relating to domiciliary care allowance applications where the Minister or Department has either directly or indirectly received solicitor letters pertaining to that individual application or appeal for each year between 2020 and to date in 2025, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) is a monthly payment for a child aged under 16 with a severe disability who requires continual or continuous care and attention substantially over and above the care and attention usually required by a child of the same age. The child must be likely to require this level of care and attention for at least 12 months.
The Department does not collate the requested information for DCA applications or appeals.
If the Deputy has a particular case on which he requires information, my Department can provide information on that particular case once the details have been provided.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
