95. To ask the Taoiseach the statutory instruments he envisages being brought forward and signed by his Department during the first six months of 2025; to highlight in particular those concerned with the transposition and or implementation of further implementation of EU law requirements; and those Statutory Instruments concerned with commencement of existing legislation. Under Section 25 of the Statistics Act 1993, I am empowered to prescribe by order a requirement on persons and undertakings to provide information to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) for the purpose of compiling statistics.

I am advised by the Central Statistics Office that it anticipates that the following two Statutory Instruments will be brought forward in the first six months of 2025:

-Waste Generation & Treatment, designed to comply with EU Regulation (EC) No. 2150/2002, and

-Gender Balance in Business Survey.

I also expect to bring forward a Government Order, under Section 11(1) of the Public Service Management Act, 1997, for the Appointment of Special Advisers at the Department of the Taoiseach in the period specified.

This is in addition to the following Statutory Instruments which have already been brought forward by my Department in 2025, and subsequently laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas:

-Statistics (Monthly Balance of Payments Survey) Order 2025 (S.I. no. 4 of 2025);

-Statistics (Balance of Payments Survey) Order 2025 (S.I. no. 5 of 2025);

-Statistics (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2025 (S.I. no. 23 of 2025);

-Statistics (Carriage of Passengers, Freight and Mail by Air) Order 2025 (SI no. 24 of 2025)

-Statistics (Carriage of Goods and Passengers by Sea) Order 2025 (S.I. no. 25 of 2025);

-Statistics (Wood Inputs Survey) Order (SI no. 48 of 2025); and

-Statistics (Roundwood Removals Survey) Order (SI no. 49 of 2025).

The Deputy will wish to note that the Government makes Orders which I sign as Taoiseach which are proposed by the relevant Ministers. These are not brought forward by my Department.

In this regard, I anticipate that a number of Orders for the delegation of functions to Ministers of State and orders for the Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions to give effect to the transfers of functions between Departments which I announced on 23 January 2025 will be made in the first six months of 2025.
