My Department has not been issued with any fines from the Data Protection Commission in respect of any breach of general data protection regulations from 1 January 2020 to date.
My Department takes its data protection obligations very seriously; it has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) as required under the GPDR and has more staff assigned to data protection roles than any other central Government Department.
The DPO is responsible for informing and advising the Department and its employees of their obligations under the GDPR, for monitoring compliance with the GDPR and for cooperating with and acting as a contact point for the Data Protection Commission.
