Fuel Allowance is a means-tested payment to help with the cost of heating a home during the winter months, payable to people who either live alone or only with certain other qualified people.

An application for Fuel Allowance was received from the person concerned on 16 October 2024.

The application was assessed by a Deciding Officer. The claim was disallowed, because the household included a person who is in receipt of a contributory payment.

The person concerned was notified in writing of this decision on 21 January 2025.

The claim was reviewed and the Fuel Allowance has been awarded to the person concerned with effect from 2 January 2025.

The first payment will issue to their nominated post office on 20 March 2025. Arrears will also issue to their nominated post office shortly.

The person concerned was notified of this decision in writing on 12 March 2025.

I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
