990. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the reason time spent on vocational training opportunities schemes are not considered as part of the required cumulative paid days for consideration for particular social protection bonuses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the case of Christmas Bonus 2024, customers in receipt of a jobseeker's payment for 12 months or 312 claim paid days were eligible for the bonus. Time spent on the Vocational Opportunities Scheme may be considered when establishing entitlement to the bonus and these cases are dealt with on an individual basis.

A person in these circumstances should contact their local Intreo Centre to see if they qualify for the bonus or any other payment that they think they may be entitled to.

I trust that this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
