As with most Government Departments, the vast majority of staff recruited for my Department are recruited by the Public Appointments Service who carry out their own vetting and reference checks. My Department runs a small number of recruitment competitions, mostly for specialist professional and technical roles, as needs arise. My Department checks all references in respect of candidates who are successful in these competitions prior to their appointment, as well as ensuring compliance with sick leave circulars and performance reviews as appropriate.

The details requested in relation to bodies under the aegis of my Department are a matter for the individual bodies concerned. Arrangements have been put in place by each Agency to facilitate the provision of information by State Bodies directly to members of the Oireachtas.
