All full time and temporary staff recruited to my Department through Publicjobs or Open Competition are subject to Garda Vetting clearance. This vetting is carried out by Publicjobs on behalf of the Department.
It is a policy of my Department that these staff must have completed the full vetting process prior to onboarding.
With regard to public bodies under the aegis of my Department, it is the responsibility of those bodies to ensure that Garda vetting is carried out on all new employees where their role is engaged in relevant work (i.e. access to, or contact with, children or vulnerable adults), in accordance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016.
My Department facilitates Garda Vetting clearance for the National Cultural Institutions (NCIs) under my Department’s remit (the National Gallery of Ireland, National Concert Hall, Crawford Art Gallery, Irish Museum of Modern Art, National Museum of Ireland, National Library of Ireland, and the Chester Beatty). The other public bodies under my Department’s remit engage directly with the Garda National Vetting Bureau in respect of Garda vetting.
