The project referred to by the Deputy is a campus project devolved for delivery to Galway and Roscommon Educational Training Board (GRETB).

This project was approved to proceed to tender (stage 3 of the architectural process) in February 2025. Once this stage has concluded, the project will progress onwards to construction in due course.

While at this current stage, it is not possible to provide a timeline for completion of the project, GRETB will continue to engage directly with the school authority to keep them informed of progress on this important project.

The current status of all projects is listed on a county by county basis at www.gov.ie. and this is updated on a regular basis to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital appraisal, site acquisition, design, tender and construction.

The school to which the Deputy refers was approved to enter the department’s pipeline for a project under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) Scheme. The project will provide 14 Mainstream Classrooms (8 Prefab replacement), 3 Science Labs with Shared Prep Area, 1 Textiles Room, 1 DCG/Tech Graphics Room, 1 Art Room ,1 Technology Prep Area, 2 Project Stores, a 4 classroom SEN Base and ancillary.

The responsibility for this project has been devolved to Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB).

This project is currently at Stage 2a of the architectural planning process. The Department understands that GRETB and the design team are currently progressing the Stage 2a report for submission to the Department which incorporates the recommendations made by Department officials at Stage 1.

Once the Stage 2a submission is received and reviewed by my department, the next step for the Design Team will be to obtain the statutory planning approvals and move the project onward to tender and construction in due course.

The project is currently at stage 1 of the architectural design process. The execution of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) between my Department and GRETB is complete.
