595. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if all persons that are recruited to work in her Department and all the related agencies of her Department are fully vetted before they are employed by her Department and-or said agencies. [11080/25]

All newly appointed civil servants recruited by my Department via publicjobs are vetted by that organisation prior to their assignment to the Department. Officers recruited via the Department's own recruitment license and Ministerial appointees are vetted by the Department directly. In addition, the Department undertakes vetting under the Children and Vulnerable Persons Acts 2012 to 2016 in respect of mandated individuals and staff members whose relevant work or activities consists mainly of the person having access to or contact with children or vulnerable persons, as a necessary and regular part of their role, as defined at Schedule 1 of the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016.

The Department also facilitates vetting under the Children and Vulnerable Persons Acts 2012 to 2016 on behalf of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.
