The large scale capital project at the school referred to by the Deputy, is included in my Department’s Construction Programme which will be delivered under the National Development Plan (NDP) as part of Project Ireland 2040 framework.

My Department’s planning and building unit issued the authorisation to issue the Letter of Acceptance for the successful tenderer, in May 2024. However, the lowest tenderer subsequently withdrew from the tender process prior to the Letter of Acceptance issuing as they could not stand over their tender.

The Design Team have been authorised to re-tender the project which will include decarbonisation measures in line with updated Technical Guidance. They are currently preparing a timeline for progression.

The school will be kept updated as soon as the timeline is determined.
