221. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will provide an update for all projects under the remit of his Department contained within the revised National Development Plan, broken down by whether they are complete, in progress, or yet to be progressed and estimated timeline for delivery; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I wish to advise the Deputy that, as Minister for Transport, I am fully committed to progressing key transport infrastructure projects under the National Development Plan (NDP) 2021-2030. As the Deputy may be aware, the revised NDP 2021-2030 was an update to the NDP 2018-2027.
Under the Programme for Government, the Government has committed to prioritising an early review of the NDP 2021-2030 to be completed in July 2025. This review will be led through the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform (soon to be renamed as the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation). With respect to Transport, among other things, this review may consider:
- the capacity of the NDP funding envelope to deliver on existing and strategically important transport infrastructure commitments, and meet the funding needs of new or accelerated potential projects and programmes;
- possible new public transport projects;
- enhanced rail infrastructure;
- possible new Roads Projects;
- further investment in light rail in our cities.
Until such time as the review is completed, I would refer the Deputy to the MyProjectIreland Interactive Map and Tracker, where updates on the progress of a range Transport projects under the National Development Plan across Ireland can be found.
Since the launch of the first National Development Plan in 2018, the tracker has been updated regularly and contains project updates across a wide range of indicators, including the current status of the project; the construction commencement date of the project; the completion or anticipated completion date of the project; the current stage of the project lifecycle as per the Public Spending Code and finally, information on the project cost range.
The MyProjectIreland Interactive Map and Tracker can be found here: www.gov.ie/en/collection/f828b-myprojectireland-interactive-map/.
