My Department published a Governance Review of Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) in December 2023. This independent review, which was carried out by EY, had been commissioned, at my predecessor, Minister Eamon Ryan’s instruction, by the Section 18 appointees (Mr Tom Barry and Mr Séamus Neely) who were carrying out the functions of IFI prior to the new IFI Board taking office in January 2024.
Since January 2024, the Board and Executive of IFI have been implementing the recommendations of that independent review.
In terms of delivering the commitment in the Programme for Government, Securing Ireland's Future, I intend to arrange for an independent review of IFI's implementation of the recommendations of the 2023 Governance Review.
