177. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the Statutory Instruments he envisages being brought forward and signed by his Department during the first six months of 2025; to highlight in particular those concerned with the transposition and or implementation of further implementation of EU law requirements; those Statutory Instruments concerned with commencement of existing legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I will shortly sign the following Statutory Instrument (SI):
Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2025.
It will update the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations 2013 (S.I. No. 46 of 2013) (amended by the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2019 (S.I. No. 259 of 2019)). The amendment will substitute the definition of Emergency Travel Certificates and European Union Emergency Travel Documents (EU ETDs) to align with the recently transposed European Union (EU Emergency Travel Document) Regulations 2024 (S.I. No. 701 of 2024). The SI will also update the schedule of fees to (i) harmonise the costs for EU ETDs with national Emergency Travel Certificates and (ii) introduce a fee for visa appeals pending final agreement with the Department of Justice.
I will also shortly bring forward SIs to give effect to the appointment of special advisors in accordance with the Public Service Management Act 1997.
In addition to the above, the Government will shortly bring forward orders to give effect to the transfer of trade policy functions to my Department and the change of name to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
