This Government continues to invest significantly in our National Ambulance Service (NAS). This year's investment of €285million in the NAS represents an increase of €54million or 23% on the 2024 allocation.

The NAS allocation for 2025 includes €8million for new service developments, which will deliver up to 180 additional posts. These posts will help support emergency front-line services, facilitate further expansion of alternative care pathways and development of NAS specialist services.

Significant Government investment in the NAS in recent years has seen total staff numbers rise to 2,407 as of December 2024, an increase of 474 staff or almost 25% since the start of 2020.
