The school to which the Deputy refers was approved funding under the Additional Accommodation Scheme to provide 2 mainstream classrooms and 2 SET rooms.

This project has been devolved to the school authority for delivery.

The project is currently at Stage 3 of the architectural design process. All funding requests submitted by the school have been assessed by Department officials and approved where appropriate in line with the agreed project brief. The school were advised in September 2024 that if any additional funding was required, that the request and any relevant supporting material should be forwarded to my department for review. My department awaits this request and supporting material.

All projects, including this one, are subject to the required due diligence as specified in my Department's Infrastructure Guidelines. It is essential to effectively manage timing, scope, and cost to remain within the budgetary constraints of the overall ASA program.

The project referred to by the Deputy has been devolved for delivery to Cork Education and Training Board (CETB).

This project is currently at Stage 2a (detailed design) of the architectural process. The Stage 2a report has been submitted to the Department for review and a Stage 2a meeting is scheduled to take place in March 2025.

Once this is reviewed and approved, the project will then move to Stage 2b which allows for detailed design/planning, obtaining the necessary statutory permissions and the preparation of tender documents. The project will then move onward to tender and construction in due course.

While it is not possible to provide a timeline for the completion of the Project at this early stage, CETB will be engaging directly with the school authority and the Department to keep them informed of all progress.
