The school to which the Deputy refers was approved to enter the department’s pipeline for a project under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) Scheme.
The project will provide 5 general classrooms, 3 tuition rooms, a 4 classroom SEN base, 1 art room, 1 project store, 1 graphics room, 1 music room, 2 technology preparation areas, 1 science laboratory and prep area.
The project was devolved to the Tipperary Education and Training Board (TETB) for delivery.
A Stage 2A addendum report was submitted to my department and a review of this report has been completed.
I am pleased to advise that my department has issued approval to progress to the next Stage 2B (approval to planning) to the delivery body TETB recently.
While the onus is now on TETB to engage with the Design Team in order to progress the project, my department will continue to work closely with the delivery authority and its design team to provide practical advice and assistance on this very important project.

A Stage 2B (pre-tender) report was submitted to the Department for review in Q3 2024. The project forms part of our overall pipeline and each project’s progression to the next stage is in the context of the management of the overall capital programme in compliance with the Government’s Infrastructure Guidelines. All projects, including this one, undergo the necessary due diligence outlined in the Public Infrastructure Guidelines. Managing timing, scope, and cost is crucial to staying within budgetary limits for the overall program.
I am pleased to confirm that the review of this project has been completed and the project has been progressed to the next stage (Tender) from November 2024. It is now a matter for the delivery body to progress and the department now awaits a tender report from the ETB for review.
My department will continue to engage with the ETB to provide practical advice and assistance on this much needed project.
