Last month the Government established the Cabinet Committee on Climate Action, Environment and Energy to oversee implementation of Programme for Government commitments in relation to the environment, climate action, energy and emergency planning.

Its membership shall comprise of the Taoiseach; the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and for Defence; the Minister for Finance; the Minister for Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform; the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications and for Transport; the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine; the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage; and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

It will meet quarterly and its first meeting will be scheduled shortly.
