I thank the Deputy for raising this issue with my Department. Officials have been in contact with Cork Education and Training Board (CETB) regarding this matter. They have advised my officials that they have been working to implement the terms and conditions contained within the agreement that allows for the conversion of tutors to the new Adult Educator Grade as set out in the nationally agreed arrangements and Information Note ESR ETB 0001/2024.

As part of the conversion process, CETB used a third-party IT system to issue contracts to tutors. Regrettably, an IT error by this third-party IT system resulted in incorrect contracts being issued. As soon as the error was identified, CETB’s human resources department engaged with the system vendor and the error was corrected, with new contracts being issued to all those affected that stated the correct nature of the contract. The contract ID remained the same to avoid potential errors with ESBS payments.
