As with many other Government Department, there is a diverse range of state bodies under the aegis of my Department, each playing a critical role in delivering and supporting public service whilst ensuring effective implementation of the Department’s statutory and policy obligations.

These State bodies are complex in terms of the underpinning regulatory sphere in which they operate and vary greatly in size, structure and function. They include both commercial and non-commercial bodies, independent, regulatory and North South Implementation bodies.

There are currently 20 state bodies under the aegis of my Department and details of these state bodies are set out in the table below by relevant programme area. It should be noted that the range of bodies under the aegis of my Department will change once transfer of functions orders are made to implement the new responsibilities assigned to Ministers in accordance with the Statement of the Taoiseach to the Dáil on the nomination of Ministers on 23 January.
