179. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport for an update on the roll-out of speed camera warning signs for the new static speed cameras that have been installed, particularly on the N17 and the N14; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8749/25]

As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the planning, operation and management of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals.

The issue of static speed cameras, including the choice of location at which they are installed, is a matter for An Garda Síochána. Once these cameras have been deployed and TII have been informed, the matter of signage is for TII and the relevant local authority.

Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply regarding signage. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
