The Social Welfare Appeals Office is a service of the Department of Social Protection which determines appeals against first instance decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements. Appeals Officers are independent in their decision making functions.
The following is the number of disability payment appeals received by scheme for 2024 which equates to approximately 37.5% of all appeals received in 2024:
Scheme | 2024 |
---|---|
Blind Persons Pension | 17 |
Disability Allowance | 8,223 |
Disablement Benefit | 132 |
Domiciliary Care Scheme | 3,181 |
Invalidity Pension | 2,291 |
Grand Total | 13,844 |
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
