781. To ask the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth her plans to progress the creation of the new National Strategy for Migrant Integration; with which Department and Minister the responsibility for this strategy will lie; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Thank for your question, Deputy.

Ireland is becoming ever more diverse and ongoing efforts are required across Government to ensure that Ireland is an equitable and inclusive place for all.

My Department is currently developing a new National Strategy for Migrant Integration. The strategy will serve as the Government’s primary policy framework for supporting the integration of migrants and people from a migrant background.

To inform the development of the new strategy, my Department conducted a two-phase consultation process with migrants and stakeholders to gather insights into the needs, challenges, and opportunities for supporting migrant integration.

Following the completion of the transfer of functions process, responsibility for the strategy will be under the remit of the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration.
