598. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection further to Parliamentary Question No. 495 of 16 February 2025, if he will confirm that the Department collates certain information in respect of applications (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department cannot collate the information concerned in the format outlined by the Deputy.
The Department collates statistics on the overall numbers of applications received / awarded / disallowed in a particular period and calculates average processing times for each scheme. While it is possible to track the journey of an individual application on the Department’s systems, it is not possible to systematically collate these into overall statistics in the format outlined by the Deputy.
Similarly, the Social Welfare Appeals Office collates statistics on overall numbers of appeals received / awarded / disallowed in a particular period and calculates average processing times for each scheme. Again, it is possible to track the journey of an individual appeal on the Department’s systems but it is not possible to systematically collate these into overall statistics in the format outlined by the Deputy.
If the Deputy has a particular case in mind, the Department can provide the requested information on that particular case once the details have been provided.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
