The Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) report on the accounts of the Public Services 2023 included a Chapter on Performance Information for Programme B Arts & Culture and Programme D Sport. The report set out the following recommendation for the Department:

Recommendation 10.1 from report states that "The Department should complete an evaluation of its performance information system to ensure that good performance measures are being used that enable it best assess how well it is performing against its aims and objectives...".

In response to this, Department officials commenced an evaluation of the performance information system in the Department in late 2024. The aim of this evaluation is to make recommendations on ways in which the system can be improved. This, in turn, will enhance the selection of performance metrics in the Revised Estimates Volume (REV). This work is ongoing and it is currently expected to be completed in Q2 2025.
