To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if he will intervene to stop the sale of Bord Na Móna Recycling to a private company; if he is concerned at the negative impacts this would have on waste management from an environmental perspective and on terms and conditions for workers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Bord na Móna is a commercial State body under the aegis of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, established under the Turf Development Act 1998. Bord na Móna is a body corporate and a separate legal entity to the Department.
Any proposal to sell part of Bord na Móna’s business is subject to regulatory approval, including Ministerial consent and will be considered on receipt of a formal request from Bord na Móna.
