I propose to take Questions Nos. 128 and 140 together.
The Jobseeker's Pay-Related Benefit scheme is a new social insurance income support which replaces Jobseeker's Benefit for people who lose their employment from 31 March 2025.
Pay-related benefit means that the amount of benefit an eligible person receives when they become unemployed will be directly linked to their previous earnings, subject to a maximum payment. The intention is to provide a more effective cushion against the income shock when a person loses their employment.
The disqualification that applies under the existing Jobseeker's Benefit scheme relating to a redundancy payment will not apply under the Jobseeker's Pay-Related Benefit scheme and therefore will not impact a person's entitlement to the scheme.
