To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform when his Department was first made aware of the financial problems arising from the Arts Council IT system spend; and to publish any communications between his Department, the Arts Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media on the matter. My Department sanctioned the project with conditions in 2019.
The Arts Council contacted the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer within my department in late 2023 to seek assistance with their planned ICT system.
This assistance was provided in early-2024.
My Department became aware of the extent of the financial loss when the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media brought a Memorandum to Government last week.
