122. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade the number of passport renewals made in January 2025; and to provide the corresponding figures for January 2023 and January 2024, in tabular form. [5473/25]

The Passport Service is successfully meeting high demand for passports and has issued over 126,000 passports to date in 2025. Turnaround times are currently at, or ahead of, target.

The figures requested by the Deputy are outlined in the table below:

Last year, 93% of all passport applications were made through Passport Online. The award-winning service is the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to apply for a passport, offering citizens the ability to apply online for their passport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I would ask the Deputy to advise his constituents who are travelling this year, particularly those with young children who require their first passport, to apply online and in plenty of time.
