The Housing Unit in my Department is responsible for the provision of analysis and support on housing-related issues to the wider department, in particular in relation to the delivery of Housing for All.

The unit ensures developing trends in the sector, including data on planning permissions, commencements and completions, are monitored and evaluated. The unit provides input and advice to senior management, while working closely with other specialists in the tax and shareholder advisory divisions.

The 'Monthly Housing Update' - a synopsis of the latest data - that is produced and sent to me by the unit is now published on the Department's website every month. The unit's assessment of in-year targets are set out in this Update.

Officials from the unit also participate in, and support, a number of inter-departmental groups including the Housing for All Secretary General Delivery Group, the Investment Working Group and the Housing for All Data Analytics Group.

A key part of the work of the unit is to support me in my contributions as a member of the Cabinet Committee on Housing.

Finally, officials from the unit regularly publish analyses as part of my Department’s “Economic Insights” series.
