I can inform the Deputy that all applications for renewal of Irish immigration residence permissions should be submitted using the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) Online Forms portal at: .

There has been no change to the system for online renewals of permissions and the subsequent issue of an Irish Residence Permit card since the online service was first launched in July 2020.

Detailed information in relation to the renewal of an immigration permission is available on my Departments Immigration website at the following link:

The validity period of a residence permission for a spouse, civil or de-facto partner is determined by the expiry date of the sponsor’s Irish residence permission. Where a residence permission is dependent on the residence status of a sponsor, the sponsor must be in permission in order for the dependent to apply to renew their own residence permission. The validity period of the dependent person will be aligned to the sponsor.

This particular requirement has not changed since the launch of the Department’s new Digital Contact Centre portal ().

The new Digital Contact Centre, which is separate to the Online Forms portal used for renewals, allows individuals to raise queries and review the status of their immigration applications. Following registration by the applicant on the portal, they can check the status of selected immigration application types, submit a specific query in relation to applications or submit a general query. First time registration applicants may also book an appointment for registration at the Burgh Quay Dublin office.

Queries from applicants are dealt with promptly and in order of receipt.
