Carer's Benefit (CARB) is a payment made to insured people who leave the workforce or reduce their working hours to care for a child or an adult in need of full-time care and attention.
To qualify, the Carer must satisfy PRSI conditions; employment conditions; show that they are providing full-time care and attention; and must show that the care recipient requires full-time care and attention.
An application for CARB was received from the person concerned on 29 January 2025.
A Deciding Officer examined the application and determined that further information was required. A request for this information issued on the 10 February 2025.
On receipt of the requested information, a Deciding Officer will make a formal decision on the Carer's Benefit application and the person concerned will be notified in writing.
If the person concerned is experiencing financial hardship during this period, they may contact their local Community Welfare Officer regarding Supplementary Welfare Allowance.
I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
