Providing a sustainable, low-carbon transport system is a key priority of the Department. Within the Climate Action Plan, fleet electrification is one of the biggest mitigation actions for domestic sectors and will provide the greatest share of transport emissions abatement to 2030.

The Electric Small Public Service Vehicle Scheme (eSPSV) supports the uptake of electric vehicles in the SPSVs sector (taxis, hackneys, and limousines). The scheme is funded by the Department of Transport and administered by the National Transport Authority of Ireland (NTA).

Applicants are required to comply with the grant scheme terms and conditions as outlined on www.nationaltransport.ie/news/espsv24-electric-small-public-service-vehicle-grant-scheme-2024/. However, it should be noted that the Department of Transport has no role in the day-to-day operations or the grant approval process.

It is the Department’s intention to continue the eSPSV Grant Scheme for 2025. We have been in talks with the NTA and it is expected that official notification of the scheme will be communicated shortly.
