117. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if, in relation to the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995, he plans to make changes to the Members’ register of interests, whereby properties held through a company must be disclosed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5065/25]

During the last Government my Department carried out a wide-ranging review of the statutory framework for Ethics - which includes the Ethics in Public Office Act 1995 - and our recently agreed Programme for Government commits under the political reform chapter to “update the Ethics in Public Office legislation”.
In this context, I will consider the particular technical issue that the Deputy raises in her question when I engage with my officials to determine the most appropriate way to take account of the Review and move forward on the Programme for Government commitment to update our legislative regime. In this context, I am anxious to ensure that any new legislation provides for an easy to understand and user-friendly ethical framework that can contribute to the quality, efficacy, and transparency of our system.
