I can confirm that the total number of Prison Officers and Recruit Prison Officers employed by the Irish Prison Service as at 31st January 2025 is as outlined in the table below.

This figure provided does not include other grades such as Assistant Chief Officer, Chief Officer, Work Training Officers, Administration grades, Governor’s or Healthcare grades.
