Tailte Éireann under the Valuation Acts 2001 to 2020 are responsible for determining if a property is rateable or not and entering the details on the Valuation Lists.

Local authorities are under a statutory obligation to levy rates on any property used for commercial purposes in accordance with the details entered in the valuation lists.

The levying and collection of rates are matters for each individual local authority. Local authorities in their annual accounts detail the amount of rates levied and collected in the financial year. However, detailed rates administration data including the information requested is not included in their annual accounts and is not available in my Department.
