To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the salary scale that applies to the Secretary General of his Department; whether this scale has changed in the past year; whether there are proposals to change this scale in the coming period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Secretary General is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Department, including financial responsibilities as Accounting Officer, providing advice to Ministers, delivering outputs and outcomes, addressing cross-cutting matters and being accountable before Oireachtas Committees as required.
The salary scale that applies to the Secretary General of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is Secretary General Level II appointed on/after 01/06/11– PPC.
The salary scale has increased in line with the Public Service Agreement 2024 – 2026 three times in the previous year with two further increases in the coming year.
2024
- A general round increase in annualised basic of 2.25% on 1 January 2024.
- A general round increase in annualised basic salary of 1% on 1 June 2024.
- A general round increase in annualised basic salary of 1% on 1 October 2024.
- A general round increase in annualised basic salary of 2% on 1 March 2025.
- A general round increase in annualised basic salary of 1% on 1 August 2025.
