201. To ask the Minister for Finance the number of help-to-buy claims approved since 1 July 2020, by county, along with the number of applicants associated with these claims; and the number of claims by home buyers, excluding self-builds, by county, that is, the number of these claims relating to purchases. Help to Buy (HTB) is a scheme to assist first-time purchasers with the deposit they need to buy or build a new house or apartment. The incentive offers a refund on Income Tax and Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT) paid in the State over the previous four years, subject to limits outlined in Section 477C of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997.

I am advised by Revenue that the table below sets out the number of approved HTB claims by county approved since 1 July 2020, as of 5 February 2025. The table also provides the number of applicants associated with these claims and the number of approved HTB claims in respect of the purchase of new houses or apartments.
