The Passport Service issued 1,061,629 passport books and cards in 2024. The number of passports issued to applicants residing County Tipperary in 2024 was 20,994.

Please see table below for the breakdown of adult and child passports issued during 2024 for applicants resident in County Tipperary.

County Adult Child Totals
Tipperary 12,831 8,163 20,994

The Passport Service's forecasts estimate that 940,000 passport applications will be submitted in 2025. Based on the overall forecast figure and last year's applications from Tipperary, the Passport Service estimates that during 2025 there will be approximately 18,000 passport applications from residents of County Tipperary.

The turnaround times for passport processing are:

Application Type Turnaround Time
Passport Online Simple Adult Renewal 10 working days
Passport Online Child Renewal or Complex Renewal 15 working days
Passport Online First Time Application 20 working days
Post Passport (paper - renewal and first time) 8 weeks

I would ask the Deputy to encourage his constituents who are travelling this year, particularly those with young children who require their first passport, to apply online and in plenty of time.
