487. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine given the increasing regulatory pressures on Irish farmers, the efforts he is making to ensure that new European Union environmental policies do not disproportionately impact Ireland’s agricultural sector compared to other European Union Member States; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am committed to supporting the whole of government approach to progressing policy issues relating to the EU Climate and Energy Framework, the EU Green Deal including Farm to Fork and its long-term vision for a climate neutral economy by 2050. This includes the Nature Restoration Law which aims to restore degraded ecosystems, thereby contributing to the achievement of the EU’s climate and biodiversity objectives, while enhancing food security.

I am committed to ensuring that Ireland’s best interests, and in particular those of our wider agri-food sector, are fairly represented throughout our journey towards a climate neutral economy.
