As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy, overall funding in relation to public transport, and corporate governance of transport agencies including the NTA.
The Deputy's request for the estimated full year cost to increase the number of WTE NTA employed taxi enforcement officers by 25, is an operational matter for the NTA.
In light of the NTA’s responsibility in this area, I am meeting the NTA next week and will be discussing this issue with them. We are seeing more people using public transport and we are improving our fleet across the country but commuters need certainty around these services.
