Funding for the Health Service Executive is as approved by the Oireachtas as part of the annual Budget and Estimates process. This funding is then allocated by the HSE to relevant service areas, including to individual hospitals, based on available funding and operational needs.

The HSE's National Service Plan for 2025 provides funding for Acute Operations of €9.84 billion. This represents a substantial increase of €1.79bn (22%) on the budget of €8.05 billion allocated in NSP 2024. The HSE is currently in the process of finalising the allocation of this increased budget for 2025 to specific hospitals.
