I propose to take Questions Nos. 775 to 777, inclusive, together.

As the Deputy will appreciate, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána. This includes all staffing and internal HR matters such as the processing of transfer requests. As Minister I have no role in these matters.

I am advised by the Garda authorities that there are currently 335 Gardaí within An Garda Síochána with a live application submitted for transfer to another Garda Division. Of those, there are currently 139 Gardaí with a live application for transfer to the Garda Divisions within Connaught, i.e. the Galway, Sligo/Leitrim, Donegal and Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Garda Divisions.

I am further advised by the Garda authorities that An Garda Síochána does not maintain historical records of transfers approved, and, as such, is not in a position to provide the number of approved requests in each county for the past five years. An Garda Síochána have advised that 86 transfer applications were approved in late December 2024 which were actioned on 14 January 2025. These transfers were approved in conjunction with the allocation of the December 2024 probationer Garda intake which attested on 13 December 2024.
