595. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 710 of 22 January 2025, to confirm that no circular has been issued to local authorities with respect to housing assistance payment rates for separated parents with part access to their children, whereby the HAP rate is changed when the child turns 18. My Department has not issued a circular in relation to the issue raised. The day-to-day operation of the social housing system is a matter for the relevant local authority, and ultimately, it is the responsibility of the local authority to make a decision in each individual case.
