495. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if the commitment in the programme of the previous Government to deliver 400 multi-denominational schools by 2030 still stands despite its omission from the current Programme for Government; the steps she plans to take to increase the number of multi-denominational schools; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 494 and 495 together.
There is a commitment under the Programme for Government to seek to increase choice for parents by ensuring that families can access both multi/non-denominational and faith based education. I am liaising with my Department officials on the best way to deliver on this commitment. Any survey of primary school communities will be considered in this context.
