Cavan Part Time Education Support Centre (ESC) was removed from the registers of ESCs in January 2022 due to failure to convene a management committee. This was following extensive engagement between my Department, the chairperson of Cavan part-time ESC and the chairperson of Monaghan ESC who were the full time ESC associated with Cavan.

Cavan is part of the region covered by Monaghan ESC. Following the closure of Cavan Part-Time ESC Monaghan ESC applied for and was granted additional funding to support the provision of Teacher Professional Learning to teachers in the Cavan region.

Cavan schools are included on all correspondence issued from Monaghan ESC to schools. All teachers in the Cavan region may attend all courses provided by Monaghan ESC. For teachers in the west of Cavan who may find Monaghan ESC too far to travel to they may attend courses in Carrick on Shannon ESC.

Monaghan ESC provide a number of courses in outreach venues in Cavan where possible. The current management committee in Monaghan ESC includes representation from Cavan schools. There are no plans to reopen an education support centre in County Cavan.
