I thank the Deputy for his question. As the Deputy is aware, SOLAS is funded from my Department for the provision of further education and training (FET) services. In turn, SOLAS allocates funding to the Education and Training Boards (ETBs) for the delivery of FET at a regional level.

Section 32 of the Further Education and Training (FET) Act, 2013 requires SOLAS to submit its annual report to me no later than the following 31st May, while section 31 requires it to submit its draft financial statements no later than 1st March to the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG). I can confirm that SOLAS submitted its annual report by 31st May 2024. In line with the Act, my Department Iaid the annual report and financial statements for 2023 before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 31st July 2024. In addition, SOLAS published its 2023 annual report and financial statements on its website in line with section 32 of the Act.

The table below sets out the current funding SOLAS allocated to each ETB in 2023 and 2024. It is important to note that the allocations for 2024 are provisional and are subject to preparation and audit of SOLAS’ annual financial statement by the C&AG.
