1652. To ask the Minister for Health the number of children with complex orthopaedic conditions on waiting lists with Children's Health Ireland; his plans for making treatment abroad accessible for these children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1920/25]

Several initiatives are underway to support improvements in paediatric spinal services and reduce the time that children are waiting for spinal procedures.

International outsourcing arrangements are in place with Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. In 2024, 15 patients received their surgery abroad under these arrangements. Families are fully supported in accessing these pathways if it is the right option for their children.

As determining the number of children with complex orthopaedic conditions on Children’s Health Ireland’s waiting lists is an operational matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
